LED wall or TV monitor? How to choose the right screen for your stand

Stand size, viewing distance, hall lighting and budget — four questions that tell you in five minutes whether your trade fair stand needs a modular LED wall or a 4K monitor.

Choosing the screen is one of the first decisions when you plan a trade fair stand — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Too small, and it disappears in a brightly lit hall. Too coarse, and visitors standing a metre away see pixels instead of your product. The good news: four questions are enough to decide.

1. How big is your stand, and where will people stand?

Start from the space, not from the screen. On a 9–16 m² stand, visitors are rarely more than two or three metres from the back wall, so a 65" or 75" 4K monitor fills their field of view without overwhelming the layout.

From around 30 m², or when the stand is open on several sides, the back wall becomes your billboard for the whole aisle. That is where an LED wall pays off: a 3×2 m or 4×2.5 m surface reads clearly from 15–20 metres away.

A useful rule of thumb: the screen should be visible from the aisle and comfortable from the spot where people stop. If those two points are less than four metres apart, a monitor is usually enough.

2. How bright is the hall?

Exhibition halls are lit for people, not for screens. Skylights, spotlights and white floors all wash out the image.

A professional monitor delivers roughly 350–700 nits — fine for most indoor stands, especially if it sits away from direct spotlights. An indoor LED wall starts around 1,500 nits and outdoor models reach 5,000, so they keep their contrast under strong light and even in daylight.

If your stand is near a glazed façade, under a skylight or outdoors, the LED wall is the safer choice.

3. What will you show, and from how close?

  • Product demos, configurators, software, small text. Visitors look from one or two metres away. A 4K monitor gives crisp detail at that distance; an LED wall would need a very fine pixel pitch to compete.
  • Brand films, motion graphics, live camera feeds, stage presentations. The audience stands further back and the content is visual. An LED wall delivers impact and a seamless, frameless image.
  • Both. Many stands combine a large LED backdrop for visibility with one or two monitors at the demo counter. For medium and large stands it is often the most effective set-up.

4. What are your budget and timing?

Monitors are cheaper and faster: our 4K monitors start at €95 per day and are ready in 30–90 minutes per unit. LED walls start at €480 per day for 2 m² and take 3–6 hours to install — more for large surfaces that need a night shift. In both cases delivery, installation, on-site support and dismantling are included.

For bookings of three days or more, duration discounts of 10–20% narrow the gap, and for week-long fairs an LED wall is often more affordable than expected. The full price list is online.

Our recommendation

  • Stand under 20 m², content viewed up close: one or more 4K monitors.
  • Stand over 30 m², open on several sides or brightly lit: an LED wall as the backdrop.
  • Somewhere in between: an LED backdrop plus a monitor at the demo point.
